about

A collection of true stories, musings and anecdotes involving coincidence and synchronicity.

Things often fall apart, but sometimes they fall together in the probability field. Such transformative points can be life-changing quantum leaps in self-awareness. The issue is one of 'similar things' that seemingly stop the arrow of time dead in its tracks, immersing us in the extraordinary, the mysterious. Thus, synchronicity is essentially direct insight into the hidden confluence of psyche and matter... Synchronicity explores the borderland between meaning and spacetime, where chance meets necessity, when external and internal circumstances align in meaningful coincidence. It links the observable and unknowable, the effect of the particular and specific with the universal. In this nonlocal effect, certain qualities manifest relatively simultaneously in different or proximate places. It is a parallelism that cannot be explained causally. Is it an invisible field effect linking multidimensional spaces? -from the operation of non-locality (Stapp, 2009)

This record was pressed for an immersive art installation called Acausal at Understudy, Denver in November of 2021. Acausal featured a compilation of coincidence and synchronicity anecdotes. Stories gathered from friends, family and associates were embedded into a faux abandoned, derelict living room environment, showcasing artifacts from the stories themselves. Acausal is an invitation to indulge in the phenomenon of coincidence. Coincidence may be described as the chance encounter of two unrelated causal chains which-miraculously, it seems, merge into a significant event. It provides the neatest paradigm of the bisociation of previously separate contexts, engineered by fate, according to Arthur Koestler.
“Coincidence is a pimp and a cardsharper in ordinary fiction but a marvelous artist in the patterns of facts recollected by a non-ordinary memorist.” -Vladimir Nabokov
